Top Tips for Cleaning Your Pura Bottle
Anyone who has ever owned a typical reusable water bottle or baby bottle knows how tricky they can be to clean. With tiny parts, narrow openings, and plastics or paints that chip away, washing them isn’t just a burden — it can even become a health hazard. But that’s never a problem with Pura Stainless.
We are proud to have designed some of the easiest water bottles to clean and the simplest baby bottles to sterilise on the market. Better still, our bottles are 100% plastic-free, so you never have to worry about microplastics shedding, paint chipping, or toxic chemicals leaching into your drink.
Before you start scrubbing, check out our expert cleaning tips to keep your plastic-free Pura bottles clean, safe, and long-lasting.
1: Wash often
Nobody wants a mouldy bottle. That’s why we made it simple to wash your Pura as often as needed. Before first use, boil your bottle for five minutes to sanitise it. After that, clean and/or sanitise with every use to ensure it stays fresh and safe.
2: Disassemble first
For the most thorough clean, always disassemble your bottle. With Pura, there are no hidden parts that can’t be accessed, unlike most bottles on the market. Simply unscrew the lid, push out any silicone pieces, and wash each component separately. Reassembly is just as quick and easy.
3: Wash, your way
For everyday cleaning, use warm water, a mild detergent, and a bottle brush to scrub the inside. Rinse well to remove any soap residue. Prefer the dishwasher? Place the separated components (except the silicone sleeve) on the top rack, and you’re done.
4: Sterilise, sterilise, sterilise
If you’re using Pura baby bottles, sterilising is key. Separate all parts, scrub and rinse thoroughly, then choose one of these sterilising methods:
-
Run components on a sanitising dishwasher cycle.
-
Use an electric steriliser.
-
Boil parts for five minutes.
5: Deep clean
Forgot your bottle in a backpack or car for a few days? If it develops build-up, mould, or odour, here’s how to revive it:
-
Soak components overnight in equal parts baking soda and vinegar.
-
Wash thoroughly with warm water and mild soap.
-
(Optional) Boil separated parts for five minutes to ensure complete sterilisation.
6: Let it dry completely
Always let your Pura dry fully before reassembling. Trapped moisture can lead to mould growth, especially in baby bottles where immune systems are still developing.
7: Care for your Pura
Your eco-friendly Pura bottles are built to last, but a little care helps keep them in top condition:
-
Never turn nipples inside out.
-
Avoid boiling the silicone sleeve, as it may damage the design.
-
If silicone picks up odours over time, use our tips to freshen it up.
